Why History Books Don't compare To Going To Europe

A European Vacation is more than just a destination to travel. It's a history in the making. No matter what part of the world you live in, Europe as a whole or individually by country, you have been directly or indirectly affected by the culture of Europe. Although modern, the European countries have been able to hold onto their histories and traditions.

You can visit Germany and see some of the top attractions of this country. There is Southern Germany where you can visit some of the castles in Heidelberg, the romantic Stuttgart and Munich with its gorgeous Bavaria. If your times are available, plan to be here during Oktoberfest! To the north, you can visit in Hamburg and revisit history in Berlin.

Book

France offers so much and some travelers make Paris their destination with little to no plans to visit surface of the city. Although many think Paris the most romantic city in the world, France has so much more to offer. In Paris alone, a tourist can choose to visit some of the finest arts that museums nearby the world have to offer. surface of Paris, you have the Mediterranean cities to the south and the seashores to the north and west and the Alps bordering Switzerland and the Pyrenees bordering Spain. The countryside is diverse with farming and woodland that gives France a sense of openness. France can be carefully a range of these different regions with their own uniqueness and distinctions, which would consist of their own food and appearances.

Another very favorite country to visit is Spain. This is a very piquant country that is known for it's Mediterranean beaches. Once a visitor of Spain, the desire to go back will all the time be there. You can't leave it so you might as well dive in. Two of the top destinations in Spain are Barcelona and Madrid. Barcelona has all the time had a strong sense of identity even under a demanding political system. The city hosted the 1992 Olympics and under went a facelift. They were forced into modernization but were able to pronounce their character. Madrid being the capital of Spain received a lot of attention for this fact alone. Although Madrid is a very modernistic city, the core of the city has maintained its architecture and flavor of the country. Madrid became the capital of Spain centuries ago to centralize the country. This it fulfilled, as it also centralized the cultural attributes of Spain as well.

The last country we are going to visit today is England. The British use to say, "the sun never sets on British soil". This was truly spoken and that is clear of the affect the England had throughout the world. Some of the countries that England controlled have changed dramatically but a visit to England is something that a lot of citizen have on their agendas. England has so much to offer from the metropolitan London, Birmingham, Manchester and such to the countryside villages that haven't changed much in hundreds of years. The fine dining, the arts and museums adding the nightlife and majesty of this country make England a place to visit.

There is so much more to Europe than can be represented here in just these few words. Germany, France, Spain and England are just a taste of visiting and enjoying the history of Europe. This is just four countries in Europe that have had great influences in the world in the last integrate of centuries. This is just a beginning to spark your interest in a European Vacation that is: Why History Books Don't collate To Going To Europe

Comparing Web Booking Engines

It seems that the Internet is full of applications that allow tour operators, independent hotel and motel owners and packaged vacation providers with online booking capabilities. Many of these booking engines are highly costly and many are not. Some are hosted and some are stand-a-lone. So how do you choose one that is right for your organization? Here are some important things to keep in mind as you begin your explore and collate the products.

1. collate apples to apples

Book

Many booking engines are absolutely booking portals. This is especially true if you are an Adventure travel business or an Accommodations provider. Booking portals are ordinarily run by associates that are travel agencies or travel wholesalers who sell your products for you and charge a commission. The traveller who purchases from the booking portal is more likely to go back to the booking portal rather than going back to you. If you choose to stop using the booking portal, your products stop showing up on the booking portal website. Although booking portals can supply you with further marketing for your products, you don't have direct operate over how the portal markets itself. You need to settle if the portal's brand is more important than your own.

2. Know your costs

When it comes to paying for a booking machine there are ordinarily two types of payments. Most booking engines are commission based, which means they charge you a transaction fee of in the middle of 1% to 5% to process the booking of your products. Some of these engines, especially the larger more well established ones can charge a one time integration fee of ,000 to ,000. Some are flat monthly fee based engines that charge you a flat monthly and transaction fee per booking regardless of your sales revenue. Despite the pricing model, choose the booking machine that is best distinguished to your business and specializes in your segment. Booking engines that do it all ordinarily don't serve a exact segment very well. Paying for a quality aid is all the time best than paying less for a mediocre one.

3. Eliminate the middleman

Everyone knows that the travel industry is full of middlemen. Every time a goods gets touched by someone, it creeps up in price incrementally. The more middlemen, the higher the price. That's why airlines, major hotels, and large tour operators now sell directly to travellers. In order to be cost contentious many of these providers are looking for ways to reduce their transaction costs. Cutting out the large commission based Gds associates is one way of doing this. Look at adding a booking machine to your own website and drive traffic to your site instead of driving it to a third party booking portal. You're much best off owning the connection with your customer.

4. Don't forget about Agents

In your efforts to sell directly to your end customer, don't forget the selling power of travel Agents. travel agencies are looking for alternative providers to satisfy the needs of their clients. travel agents are sales citizen looking for the best commission they can find on a unique and involving goods for a customer. Make sure you can operate your connection with the agents and by cutting out the middle man, you can pay the agent a higher commission. You get your products in front of the buying social and the travel agent gets a cheap commission for their sale, its a win win for everyone.

In conclusion, remember that committing to a booking machine provider can be a long term connection with valuable cost implications. Many booking engines or portals want a long term contract, so consider where you plan to be in the time to come and see if the decision you make today is going to be the right one in a year or two. Finally, any booking machine is only as efficient as you make it, so if you plan on using a booking engine, you will need to make a commitment to use it and use it well.

How to Price Your Book So That it Sells

Many authors struggle when pricing their books.  On one hand, you are providing extremely necessary facts to your readers.  On the other hand, books have a perceived value that is less than a coaching session or a live event.

For many of you, pricing will not be an issue.  You will work with a publisher who will resolve the price of your book for you.  However, if you resolve to self-publish your book, or work with a publisher who allows you to set your price, you may find yourself in a quandary over the pricing of your book.

Book

Proceed cautiously.  There are many foremost factors to think when pricing your book.  I know an author who wanted to make her book very appealing to buyers.  She set her price so low that she lost money on each book sale.  Other authors repel sales by pricing their book too high.  Pricing requires a delicate balance.

Consider these things before you set your price:

1. How much does it cost to yield your book?

There are many hard costs connected with producing a book.  You should know the price of the printing as well as how much you've spent for editing, cover design, and marketing.  Then evaluation how many books you will sell in the first six months after your book launch.  Divide all the production costs by the number of books you plan to sell.  That will give you a rough breakdown of the hard costs for each book.

2. Remember that bookstores and other wholesale outlets will buy your book at 50-60% of the cover price.  Set your cover price high adequate that your hard costs are covered at the 50% wholesale price with a bit of behalf built in.

3.  resolve the pricing of similar books.  Amazon.com will give you exquisite information.  Look for the high and low prices on similar books on Amazon.  Note the sell price, not the discounted price on Amazon.  The Amazon reduction may change daily as Amazon adjusts prices to sell the maximum number of books.

Depending on your genre, you will find that most non-fiction book sell from .95 to .95.  observation that most book prices end in five not a seven.

Self-help and spiritual books sell at the lower end of that range.  company books are generally on the higher end of the range.

4. Be aware that book sales depend on volume.  It is good to strive to sell many books at a small behalf per book than to sell fewer books and make more per sale.  Remember that your book is a marketing tool for your company so you want to sell as many copies of your book as possible.

5. Once you have a price range for your book from Amazon, set your price in the middle to upper end of the range.  If your book is too cheap, buyers will assume that it is not worthwhile.

6. Check your numbers.  Will you cover your hard costs at this price?

7. Then, convention saying, "My book sells for $xx.xx."  Can you say that shape with confidence?  If not, resolve why.  Adjust the price until you can say it with confidence and sincerity.

8. Finally, ask your heart.  Do you feel that this price is a fair exchange, one in which the reader gets great value in return for their money?  When in doubt, err on the side of a slightly lower price.  Aim for a fair price that feels like a great deal for the reader and a good deal for you.

Setting the price of your book is an art and a science.  Combining the facts of hard costs and behalf margins with the more heart centered feeling arrival will give you the ideal price for your book.

Not Using Audio Books - Afraid to Walk & Chew Gum

Just what you wanted, an additional one article about why you should be using Audio Books in your life.

In this article I will begin with 3 of my popular reasons for using audio books. So please, be ready for anything will pop up.

Book

1. I am putting this one first as it is true to life and recently just happened. My wife and her sisters went down to Florida to celebrate their brothers birthday.

You say big deal but it truly was. He has lived in Florida for over 20 years and it is the first time they have ever been together, in Florida. Well not being from there, my wife and her sisters were out on the beach walking and taking in the sights, smells, sounds and the great weather. Suddenly the whole thing was interrupted.

There was a woman that was running down the beach and she tripped over a sun bather and fell, she apologized to him and continued. She then ran into a merge walking down the beach and it prolonged on for minutes while they watched in amazement. This woman was trying to read a book while jogging on the beach.

How much she truly read and what portion of it she was able to keep is suspect. Do you think you could merge while running and trying to avoid hitting people or tripping over them while reading at the same time?

The statistics say that after reading a book, you will only be able to keep 10% of the field matter in the book. Details will be very hazy at best and you will have to read it again to even get the basic story line correct.

But if you are listing to an audio book it is inherent to double that statistic. Up to an fantastic 20%.

2. How many times have you looked over at the vehicle next to you only to see that the driver is reading something. How scary is that? More often then not he/she is not reading a book but maybe a magazine or a article or something similar. people think that they are great multi-taskers and should be able to do something else while driving.

This contributes to the higher rate of accidents as well as people using cell phones. There is help in the form of audio books that you can whether load onto a Cd and play in you car player or put it on an iPod or mp3 player and listen straight through the headphones.

But, I believe that you should do none of those as I would rather you were able to merge on driving and avoid other motorist. How often have you just gotten straight through driving a section of roadway and not remembered driving straight through there. Why, because you were busy doing or thinking of something else and not concentrating on driving.

Even though using cd's or players to listen to music or audio books you cannot merge on driving, but if you insist on doing it, listen to audio books instead of reading.

3. As long as we are talking about driving, why not use audio books while you are driving your motorcycle? It is the same as driving your car but a lot noisier. You will not make you very cool like your fellow riders but truly more informed.

Well, you have gotten the gist of my articles. While you wait to get the next article, put together a list of your own and you can assess yours to mine.

Example Book Proposal - Write Yours Based On This Sample

Here is a book proposal example for a book entitled High Rents.

High Rents

Book

A Book Proposal

By [Your Name Here]

Overview

How many people pay high rents? Everyone. Yet there are no books on this subject.

High Rents is the first book to look at this field from the renter's point of view. It is divided into two chapters. Chapter One is about high rents. Chapter Two is about how to deal with high rents. The book will be 75,000 words long and be ready one year after receipt of the advance.

Marketing And Promotion

This book will petition to every person who pays rent, and that includes 53 percent of the U.S. Population, for a total of 41 million adults. An supplementary shop will be attorneys who laid out landlords and tenants. A supplementary shop will be book clubs and libraries.

High Rents can be promoted on radio and Tv. I will make myself available to these media outlets. I have already appeared on the radio when I was a guest on the "Holiday Ideas" radio show on Wcdb-Am in Paducah. I write an occasional column in the local newspaper, and I will promote the book there as well. I have already gotten interest from two television producers, one from the local Abc news channel, and other from the local Cbs channel. This is a good indication that my book will create weighty publicity when published.

Competing Books

There is only one competing book, and it is entitled Rent by John Author (Competing Books Publisher 2007) but his book doesn't deal with high rents. In disagreement my book will focus exclusively on high rents and will be of interest to more people because every person wants to avoid high rents.

About The Author

[Your name here] is a magazine writer for the Pacific Monthly. She has written numerous columns for that publication. She is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, and is a regular speaker at the Paducah Tenant Organization. She also travels to lecture at other tenant organizations in New York and elsewhere. She is very excited about this book because many tenants have told her they wish there was a book like this available.

List Of Chapters

Table of Contents

Chapter 1 - High Rents

Chapter 2 - How to Deal with High Rents

Index

Chapter Summaries

Chapter 1 - High Rents.

The first Chapter talks about high rents in the United States. It is divided into fifty sub-sections, each about one of the states. I seek the statistical frequency of high rents in each state. This will not be a boring book because I will interject jokes about high rent in each section.

Chapter 2 - How to Deal with High Rents.

The second part of the book will deal with thirty-six ways to deal with high rents. These methods comprise making more money, paying in installments, paying with reputation cards, borrowing from relatives, borrowing from banks, subletting, ending a lease, having a thoughprovoking sale, and other methods. Each recipe will be discussed with plenty of real-life examples.

Sample Chapter

[Include a sample Chapter here.]

prognosis Of This Sample Book Proposal

This example of a book proposal is much shorter than an actual book proposal, of course, but it gives you all the essentials. The first thing it contains is the overview, which is supposed to hook reader interest. This is followed by a marketing and promotion section in which you tell who will buy your book and how you'll publicize the book. Typically this is followed by the competing books section where you talk about similar books and stress why yours is better.

Then you discuss your credentials in the about the author section. Anything you've done that will give an editor trust belongs in here, even if you have no big publishing credits.

Then you list the chapters, which is basically just a table of contents for your book. And effect this with short Chapter summaries. Notice that my Chapter summaries are only one paragraph each. That's all you need.

Then attach a sample Chapter or two. In this case, since the entire book is only two chapters, we're only attaching one chapter.

You'll find plenty of examples of book proposals in books and online, but remember my most prominent advice. settle on one book proposal example and use it to write yours. Using too many can just confuse you. If you settle on wisely, you'll have a great model and will be off to a great start in your book proposal writing.

Rhyming Advertising Slogans

"Don't be vague, ask for Haig" (a brand of Scotch whisky). "Don't just book it, Thomas Cook it" (Thomas Cook is a tour company). "Nothing sucks like an Electrolux" (vacuum cleaner). Those advertising slogans have endured, and one of the reasons that they are so memorable is that they rhyme.

After all, we use rhymes to help children learn: "One, two, buckle my shoe, Three, four, knock at the door." We know that children will want to sing along, and to repeat the rhyme because it's fun. As a result, they remember numbers much more easily.

Book

A study carried out by two psychologists from Lafayette College a few years ago found that adults, too, sass well to rhymes. The researchers read out two short phrases that were same in meaning, but one of them rhymed and the other didn't. The phrases included "Woes unite foes" and "Woes unite enemies" and "What sobriety conceals, alcohol reveals" and "What sobriety conceals, alcohol unmasks." Respondents judged the rhyming aphorism to be more accurate than the non-rhyming version (even though both versions meant the same thing).

The psychologists accomplished that the ease with which people are able to process facts plays a large role in their quality to trust that information. The mind accepts rhyming phrases more quickly and thus we feel more comfortable with them. We admittedly remember rhymes, even those we learned years ago. When you are unsure how to spell a word you may say to yourself "I before E except after C." When you wonder what the weather will be like tomorrow, you might spin "Red sky at night, shepherds' delight; Red sky in the morning, sailors' warning."

If you haven't yet chosen a company strapline or advertising slogan, it might be worth checking in a rhyming dictionary (you'll find some online). It's not the spelling of the word that matters, but the sound, as in 'vague' and 'Haig', 'sucks' and 'lux' above. The stress of the word is prominent too; 'widget' and 'forget' don't rhyme because the first syllable is stressed in 'widget', while it's the second syllable of 'forget' that carries the stress. Don't forget to take inventory of the pronunciation of your customers when selecting a strapline or slogan. To paraphrase Fred Astaire, it just doesn't work when "You say tom-ah-to, and they say tom-eh-to."

Outliers Book present - Stories of Success

Malcolm Gladwell's ability to take the somewhat obscure patterns of everyday life and bring concentration to them in easy to understand language is his true strength as a writer and certainly as a researcher.

The book Tipping Point (Time Warner Book Group, 2000, 2002), Gladwell explains how ideas, trends or social activities come to be phenomena's with just an unseen force that he called the tipping point. In Blink (Time Warner Book Group, 2005), he explores how and why decisions are made in the blink of an eye.

Book

With his new book, Outliers The Story of Success (Little Brown and Company, 2008), Gladwell has advanced a ideas for why some habitancy are more thriving than others. In his research, he found patterns of house history, birthdates, birthplace, and culture lead to a person's success.

While in his first two books he took relatively uncomplicated concepts and gave them shape, form and force, in Outliers, the book starts out very strong but in the end not all of the research seems to keep his theories.

Social Class Makes a disagreement in Success

The name of the book is defined in the very first paragraph. Gladwell wrote that an outlier is,"1: something that is situated away from or classified differently from a main or associated body 2: a statistical observation that is markedly separate in value from others in the sample".

He uses the remainder of the book to information how patterns can be found when comparing individuals in sure groups. Some of the patterns included:

Most thriving hockey players are born in the month of January.

After researching athletes, musicians and others, research shows it takes 10,000 hours of convention to come to be an expert.

Successful technology giants like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Paul Allen, were born in the middle of the years of 1953 and 1955.

The "honor culture" experienced throughout the southern states, especially in the Appalachians, was born out of the 'Scotch-Irish' decedents who settled in those areas.

Children who were raised in upper and upper middle classes were more thriving in their adult lives than those raised in lower and lower middle class families because of a sense of entitlement.

The Chinese culture can understand math faster and better than other cultures because of working long hours 360 days a year with rice paddies. And, Chinese children learn to count earlier in life because Chinese whole words are shorter and easier to repeat than English whole words.

A Pattern of Success for Gladwell

While the factory of this book is not as substantiated by the research (I'm still not sure how rice paddies tell to being better at math) as Gladwell's previous books, some of the research such as the 10,000 to specialist a skill makes excellent sense.

Gladwell's storytelling is what makes Outliers worth the read.

"While I was thus in the act of calling upon God, I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside, standing in the air, for his feet did not touch the floor.

"He had on a loose robe of most exquisite whiteness. It was a whiteness beyond anything earthly I had ever seen; nor do I believe that any earthly thing could be made to appear so exceedingly white and brilliant. His hands were naked, and his arms also, a little above the wrists; so, also, were his feet naked, as were his legs, a little above the ankles. His head and neck were also bare. I could discover that he had no other clothing on but this robe, as it was open, so that I could see into his bosom.

"Not only was his robe exceedingly white, but his whole person was glorious beyond description, and his countenance truly like lightning. The room was exceedingly light, but not so very bright as immediately around his person. When I first looked upon him, I was afraid; but the fear soon left me.

"He called me by name, and said unto me that he was a messenger sent from the presence of God to me, and that his name was Moroni; that God had a work for me to do; and that my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken of among all people.

"He said there was a book deposited, written upon gold plates, giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent, and the source from whence they sprang. He also said that the fulness of the everlasting Gospel was contained in it, as delivered by the Savior to the ancient inhabitants"

The Oz Principle - A Book overview

In The Oz Principle, Connors, Smith, and Hickman brilliantly use the analogy of "The Wizard of Oz" to discuss a enterprise doctrine aimed in propelling individuals and organizations to overcome unfavorable circumstances and perform desired results. This doctrine can be encompassed in one word: Accountability.

The eponymous principle builds upon the ethos of personal and organizational accountability. It explores the root cause of an organization's impediments to exceptional carrying out and productivity, and provides great comprehension on how to re-establish a enterprise from the lowest up, emphasizing on the thin line that separates success from failure. The Above The Line, Below The Line methodology is the driving force behind The Oz Principle.

Book

The Oz Principle: Getting Results straight through Accountability

Just like Dorothy's hunt for the Wizard of Oz for enlightenment, individuals and organizations also seek out the wizard that will save them from the maladies that afflict their workplace. However, the wizard is just a distraction, bearing new-fangled enterprise philosophies and administration fads that will only create a layer atop the ugly truth that needs to be revealed. When the core qoute is not addressed, the ills will
eventually resurface and the enterprise is back to its sorry state.

Victim thinking or Failed Accountability

When a enterprise suffers from poor carrying out or unsatisfactory results, individuals from top administration all the way to the front line begin finger-pointing, forming excuses, rationalizing, and justifying, instead of doing something to alleviate the situation. They foolishly mouth that the circumstances have made victims of them, that the events are thoroughly out of their control, and that they shouldn't be blamed for the company's current problems. It's all the time something or someone else, never themselves.

Above The Line, Below The Line

A thin line separates failure and success, greatness and mediocrity.

Above The Line, you'll find the Steps to responsibility which contain in chronological order: See It, Own It, Solve It, and Do It. The first step, See It, means acknowledging the problem; to Own It is to assume responsibility for the qoute and the results; Solve It means to formulate solutions to remedy the situation; and, as a culminating step, Do It commands the
practical application of the solutions identified.

Below The Line is where the self-professed victims play

The Blame Game. Here, crippling attitudes such as Wait and See, Confusion/Tell Me What To Do, It's Not My Job, Ignore/Deny, Finger Pointing, and Cover Your Tail are rampant. Though majority of the people found in this dimension are weak in accountability, this does not mean that very accountable individuals are exempt from falling Below The Line. They, too, slip every now and then. The only discrepancy is that they know how to get out of the rut.

A simple clarification to Victimization

Individuals and organizations Below The Line languish in
self-pity until they get trapped in the "I Am a Victim"
mind-set and find it hard to break free from the vicious cycle. responsibility offers a very simple option to make, albeit a difficult one to act upon: "You can whether get stuck or get results." So stark in its simplicity that most people fail to realize that the ball has all the time been in their court.

The Power of private Accountability: interesting Yourself
Above The Line

The first step to responsibility is recognizing the problem.
It takes great courage to admit that you are stuck in a
difficult situation. Most people, however, fail to view
reality the way it is because they choose to ignore it or
they accept the situation as the status quo and go along
with it.

To kick off the march up the Steps to Accountability, you must first muster the courage to: a) identify when you fall Below The Line; b) realize that remaining Below The Line not only ignores the real qoute but leads to increasingly poor results; and c) retort and accept reality as the first step toward taking accountability.

Mustering the courage to See It will lead to the next step,
Owning It. Here, you must have the heart to own the
circumstances you've recognized in the See It step as well
as the results that will come from the policy of performance you
plan to take.

"What else can I do to rise above my circumstances and perform the results I want?" That is the examine to continually ask yourself when you find yourself stuck in a stubborn situation. Apart from creating solutions, Solving It also involves vision in determining the worst possible scenario that can happen, and being ready to battle it head on.

Having solutions is not enough if you neglect practical
application. You can't Do It unless you make yourself
accountable not only for immediate circumstances but also for hereafter accomplishment. With this, you are empowering not only yourself but also your organization.

It's so easy to be pulled back Below The Line, especially if you don't accept full responsibility for the situation and the future. A lot people are afraid to become accountable because they fear the risks associated with it. However, know that without taking the big leap, you will never get anywhere.
